Amber took on the challenge of designing and 3D-printing the signature glove of Vi, her favorite video game character. As part of our 3D printing and cosplay workshop, she learned to bring her vision to life, refining her skills in design and fabrication. To celebrate her achievement, Amber styled her own costume, did her makeup with a little help from her sister Sienna, and participated in a creative photoshoot to showcase her hard work.

At 13 years old, Amber has Autism, which shapes her unique way of experiencing the world. Through our workshops, she discovered that art and cosplay give her a powerful way to express herself. Learning 3D printing has not only built her confidence but has also provided a hands-on creative outlet that aligns with her interests and strengths.

This program didn’t just teach Amber a new skill—it gave her a pathway to connect with others. Through Creativity Hood, Amber has found a community of like-minded people who share her passion for creativity and cosplay. By embracing her individuality and growing her technical skills, she now has the confidence to express herself, be part of a creative community, and share her unique perspective with the world.

Kelvin came to Creativity Hood with a newfound love for 3D printing. Having recently purchased his own printer, he was eager to create but wasn’t sure where to start. His first major project was a dragon mask, which he built from start to finish using a YouTube tutorial and the guidance of his mentor, Kellie. Through dedication and self-teaching, Kelvin learned to print, process assemble, and paint his mask, developing both his technical skills and artistic confidence along the way.

Kelvin has Autism and social anxiety, which made creative projects difficult for him to tackle alone. Before coming to Creativity Hood, his biggest obstacle was the need to always have someone else with him while making art. In the supportive and calming environment of the studio, he gradually worked towards his goal of creating independently, both at home and in the studio. After eight months of persistence and growth, he achieved this milestone, proving to himself that he could take on projects with confidence.

As Kelvin’s skills and confidence grew, so did his natural ability to teach. He began mentoring fellow students, including Amber, Pyper, Zack, and Jack, guiding them through the same creative journey he once took. Recognizing his talent for teaching, Kellie offered him a part-time job at Creativity Hood, where he now helps others navigate the world of 3D printing. Beyond the studio, Kelvin has taken on printing commissions for local businesses and cosplay enthusiasts. With Creativity Hood’s support, he is learning the skills needed to be a teacher and support worker, empowering both himself and those he mentors. He has also joined multiple online and in-person creative communities, where he shares his work and volunteers his time to help others bring their ideas to life.
